When the admiralty needed another big and powerful seagoing tug there was only one place to go for this vessel and it was to Leith that an order was placed for HMS TYPHOON with the shipbuilders who had built so many of the powerful “Bustler Class” tugs during World War II

She was an ocean going salvage and rescue tug tons with a length B.P. of 180 feet and a beam of 38 feet and 6 inches.

She was to spend a lot of her time in the South Atlantic waters around the Falkland Islands.
