Port of Leith

This Monday, 29th June, I’m launching Leith Built Ships, Volume 5: Steam Yachts (1875–1928) at the Port of Leith Distillery — a perfect setting, built on the very ground where Henry Robb’s shipwrights once shaped some of Scotland’s finest vessels. Join me for a short talk on Leith’s steam yacht legacy, a few stories from the yards, and a celebration of the craftsmanship that helped shape the Royal Yacht Britannia just down the road.

D-Day now 82 years on

Lets not forget that many young people would see the French coast on the morning of June 6th 1944,

many would never return. They gave their own futures so that we would have ours, lets not waste the days they gave to us.

New book published today

Very pleased to be able to say that the latest book in the series of ships built at Leith has now been published.

Magnificent Steam Yachts of Leith, 1870–1928 (Volume 5) sails straight into the golden era of luxury at sea. Leith’s shipyards produced some of the finest steam yachts ever built—elegant, extravagant, and far ahead of their time. This book uncovers their remarkable stories through rare archival material and storytelling, a look back at a world long vanished.
